When the Storms Rage

The challenges of life can be daunting. There are few things we truly have control over, and much like Peter in Matthew 14, we often find ourselves in the midst of overwhelming circumstances far beyond our power. Peter lacked the ability to control the waves, the wind, the storms, but he did have access to the Master of Creation. His salvation in that raging storm began when he realized his need for help. Had Peter attempted to save himself, his end would have surely been disastrous. Maybe today you find yourself in an overwhelming place of depression, or maybe finances seem to be the constant angry storm in your life, there are so many variables and possibilities we could consider. The one, single, absolute constant is Jesus.

When we become willing to extend ourselves in faith to the Master and ask for His help, He is faithful to respond. You may be in a situation where you are out of moves. There’s nothing else you can do but wait on God to reach out and grab you and bring you to safety. If that is the case, know that He is faithful to respond when we reach out to Him and ask for help. It absolutely does not matter the severity of the storm, Jesus is always faithful to save and restore.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your marvelous power to save, restore, and even correct me in my ways when I err. Today, I am thankful for your saving power in the midst of my own mess, in the midst of life’s storms, in the midst of a raging sea. Thank you for never failing me! -Amen

But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”
