SIlencing the Voice of the Enemy

It began as an encounter in a beautiful garden, one we cannot fathom with our current perceptions, except through the means of stretched imaginations and creativity. A woman and serpent, temptation and the fall of man. We have either read this story or heard of it numerous times throughout our lives; Adam & Eve, the fruit of the tree, the need for a redemptive savior. Eve gave her ear to the serpent, the enemy, and in turn, initiated compromise where the enemy countered the truth of God’s words regarding the forbidden fruits.

You see, the enemy will always whisper counter-truths to you regarding what God’s promises are for your life. He’s very cunning and sneaky, but we see his patterns all through God’s word. Today, take notice of who you are giving your ear to, who you are lending your attention to, and the position of compromise you may have placed yourself in due to that wrong move. When we cling to the Truth of God, ignore the enemy and resist him, we will be victorious over the temptations of this world.

Heavenly Father, Who has my attention? Is my mind and focus divided or are You my sole pursuit? Please search my heart for any unclean motives and help silence the voices and temptations of the enemy. I seek an audience of one, and that is You, the lover of my soul. -Amen

“Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’” “You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”
