From the Depths of Our Heart

We live in perilous and challenging times. There are so many things, so many injustices that exist, how do we prioritize them? First, we approach it by understanding that, before we are citizens of this world, we are citizens of Heaven, and should approach our decision-making process as such. But we cannot do this if the word of God is not deeply rooted in our hearts. The truth of Christ must be so prevalent in our beings that it overflows in our thoughts, words, and deeds. So, some would say, why do Christians today not seem to have the power of the New Testament church? Could it be, my brothers and sisters in Christ, that we lack the presence of God’s Word in our lives? Not religion, not rules, not a rigid set of living instructions, but His life-giving, life-changing, empowering, freedom-giving, living Word. This is something that has been on my heart heavy recently.

The truth is, we can walk around and repeat various affirmations, and, even scripture, which is often spoken out of context, but if we do not speak His life-giving power from a place where we are walking and living in His word and allowing it to change us, we are missing the power point. The point isn’t to merely recite and memorize scripture, the point is to allow the Word of God to change every part of who we are, and yes, even our thinking. So I ask you today; what is your heart full of? Is it full of His life-giving truth? Or are you “prophesying” merely to be heard, lacking the hope found in the power of God? We are not here to be doom and gloom seed spreaders, we are here to live life abundantly, for that honors the Savior of our souls, Jesus, as He came to not only give us life, but life to the fullest. We cannot do that by keeping the seeds and roots of anything contrary to the Word of God in our hearts.

This is not to say we are empowered to speak new materialistic things into existence, but, while I do not see anything wrong with having “stuff”, the point of this is to be victorious in spirit, pursue Christ and the kingdom of God wholeheartedly, and the other things will come.

“Let the words of Christ dwell richly in you in all wisdom.”

You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
